Hi Folks,
I’m sorry I haven’t posted anything for quite a while. It seems as though I disappeared off the face of the Earth. It sure felt as if I did.
Here’s what happened…in a nutshell. You know the kind of nutshells that are tightly closed, and then when you prise them open, the nut inside is all rotten and stinky? Yeah, one of those nutshells.
In 2014, I was signed by a publisher for a three-book contract. I was absolutely over the moon. There was wine. There was happy dancing. There was a pulled muscle—the dancing was that vigorous! My first book in the Dante’s Purgatory Series was released, but five days later, I heard my publisher was in serious trouble.
Since I don’t like dwelling on bad stuff, I’ll keep it brief:
1. Publisher sells books
2. Publisher does not pay authors
3. Publisher will not return rights to authors
During that time, I wasn’t sure what to do. Since the publisher held the rights to the whole series, I didn’t want to write more books in that series, not knowing if or when I’d be able to get my rights back. I felt bad for readers who had bought the first book and were asking when I might complete the second. I totally lost my creative mojo. There may or may not have been tears.
Someone asked me to write a screen play. So I bought a book called, “The Screenwriters Bible,” read it cover to cover and then I wrote a screen play. All the while, I kept thinking, I’d much rather be writing a book. I did some copywriting work for websites and real estate marketing, and I thought, I’d really, really rather be writing books. And then—after about two frustrating and creative-energy-sapping years—I FINALLY got my rights back. I couldn’t help myself, I happy danced again. I was fine; the previous injury had totally healed by then.
Now I’m self-publishing. At the moment, the thought of signing another contract makes my left eye twitch uncontrollably.
I’ve just re-released the first book, Hurt Me, Heal Me. And I have a brand new release of the second book in the series, Yearn For You. I’m currently working on the third book, Master Me. I can’t even describe how happy I am to be back doing what I love, and hanging out in my little world of Dante’s Purgatory with my crazy characters and their exceedingly pervy ways.
I’ve re-located my blog to my spanky new website, so please come and have a look around. There’s new book release info, book quotes, excerpts, and a bit of a sneak peek at what’s coming next. Oh, and check out my sexy book trailers. Note: they’re NQSFW (not quite safe for work) so here are Sayara’s handy tips for book trailer viewing:
1. Cover your computer screen with a blanket
2. Get under the blanket
3. Press play
4. View and enjoy
This is a tried and trusted method and your co-workers will be none the wiser. Because, you know…discreet.
Thanks so much for following and I’ll be talking to you real soon.
