My review of A Torch in His Heart, by Anna Belfrage.

Reviews

I’ve been excited to read this book by Anna Belfage ever since I first heard of its existence. I fell in love with Ms. Belfrage’s writing upon discovering her King’s Greatest Enemy Series. A Torch in His Heart is a brand-new release, the first in The Wanderer Series, and something quite different. And I absolutely loved it.

Here’s my review:

Excellent. Looking forward to the next book in this series.

Anna Belfrage, well-known for historical and time-travel romance, has ventured into new territory with this contemporary paranormal romance offering. Here’s a description from social media of A Torch in his Heart:  In life, after life, he’s searched the world for her, the girl he loved and lost 3000 years ago. Now, he’s found her. Unfortunately, so has the man who destroyed them in the past… A timeless and dark romance.

This story totally grabbed my attention from the first page—the first paragraph, even. This is how the story begins: “His eyes snapped open. She was here! Jason Morris lay without breathing, without moving, his heart racing in his chest. Yes. She was here, he was sure of it. He took a deep breath, a ragged sound that tore through the silent darkness of the large bedroom. Finally, after all these years, he had found her.” Once hooked by this beginning, I found myself drawn deeper and deeper into the story and was captivated until the very end.

Ms. Belfrage has a beautiful writing style. Her descriptions paint a vivid picture. The characters feel real. Her villains are always truly villainous (Samion definitely doesn’t disappoint in this regard). I really enjoyed the way the characters’ pasts were revealed little-by-little throughout the story. It was cleverly done, and I found the backstory quite fascinating.

One thing Anna Belfrage’s readers will find different in this book compared with the two previous series is that A Torch in His Heart has more erotic content. The sex scenes are more frequent, more descriptive and in my opinion, executed extremely well.

In conclusion, this is a compelling and suspenseful story, and a brilliant foray into new territory by author Anna Belfrage. Five stars.

About Anna Belfrage.

Had Anna been allowed to choose, she’d have become a time-traveller. As this was impossible, she became a financial professional with three absorbing interests: history, love stories and writing.

Anna has authored the acclaimed time travelling series The Graham Saga, set in 17th century Scotland and Maryland, as well as the equally acclaimed medieval series The King’s Greatest Enemy which is set in 14th century England. (Medieval knight was also high on Anna’s list of potential professions. Yet another disappointment…)

With Jason and Helle, Anna has stepped out of her historical comfort zone and has loved doing so. She hopes her readers will love it too. Find out more about Anna by visiting her website, www.annabelfrage.com

And what have I been up to recently? I’ve been a bit quiet on my blog because I’ve been busy writing. I’m currently working on the second book in my Blood Kissed Series. In the first book—Kiss Me, Bite Me—I eased readers into Greg and Ana’s relationship as a human couple. You got to know them well before I introduced the paranormal element. In the second book, I’m launching straight into mayhem and madness. Melanie (Ana’s hilarious best friend) plays a bigger role in this book so I’m having a lot of fun writing the story. I do, however, feel a bit sorry for Ana. I’m throwing a lot of stuff at her: drama, drama, drama…plus a cheese ball. Yep, you read that right—a cheese ball. That’s all I’m going to say. #NoSpoilers.

Coming up on the blog in the near future, I have a brand new space opera release by Kayelle Allen; my first podcast interview; and some writing tips. NB: That last one may give you a bit of a chuckle but will definitely give you absolutely no help with your writing. None. 😁

By the way, did you know that September is #ReadANewBookMonth? And we’re already halfway through! So if you haven’t picked up any new books yet, there’s no time like the present.

Take care, folks, and happy reading.

xx Sayara
